about John and Susan Glass
As current members of the Vista Center Board of Directors, our Campaign Founders John and Susan Glass are challenging our loyal donors and supporters by providing seed money for this campaign; with the sole objective being to enhance our progress and catapult Vista Center to the next phase of success and service!
Both born blind, Campaign Founders John and Susan Glass, independently became clients of Vista Center nearly 50 years ago. The Center offered recreation, cooking, sewing, and other classes geared toward young people. Most of the activities were headed up by volunteers, including parents and local teachers. Both Susan and John recall positive memories of time – hours of time – spent in the Braille Library, still located in the San Jose office. Both John’s and Susan’s mothers (sighted) learned braille, and contributed by transcribing, as volunteers at the Braille Library.
The Glass’ early support, childhood and young adult social activities, emotional confidences, and professional accomplishments are, in large part, due to the attendance and valued learning facilitated at Vista Center by staff and volunteers. We celebrate John and Susan - they are living their BEST LIFE. Both strongly believe their success is due to the supportive engagement they received from Vista Center’s holistic programs and services.
